Welcome...

Refurbished in 2006 Gainsborough Methodist Church is a growing church in 'fit for purpose' premises.

Our mission is to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ who serve the local community and the wider world in response to the love of God discovered and experienced.

We pride ourselves in being an inclusive community, building faith and catering to all ages. We attempt to ensure that our worship is informative and inspirational, yet also warm and comfortable.

That stated, fellowship is not just limited to a Sunday morning. It extends to numerous Weekday activities, such as Bible Studies, Prayer Groups, and Social Occasions.

Through these activities we are able to truly connect with each other, and our Lord. It may also interest you to know that the flowers from our services are taken to the housebound, the sick and others in need.

If you are visiting Gainsborough or moving into the town and looking for a Church, then please feel free to contact the Minister or even just come along to a service and make yourself known to a Steward.

Coronavirus Guidance

Update - - Thurs 12th August 2021 - -

All the Churches of the Wolds and Trent Circuit are now open for worship but please check the plan as some worship patterns have changed and may continue to change.

We are singing and some churches have Coffee Fellowship afterwards depending on their circumstances. In the case of Coffee Fellowship, we are retaining the reasonable safe practices for cafes when providing or distributing food and drink.

As a Church, we encourage frequent handwashing and sanitising on entry to the building and in general, although it is not compulsory, we encourage the use of face coverings and people are asked to wear them whilst moving around our buildings.

We have increased ventilation and we have, for the moment, shortened services to 40-45 minutes to decrease the risk of infection. However, we would ask that if people are unwell, they remain at home. At this time, please limit personal contact and deter from hand shaking and hugging. We also do not encourage passing the offering plate, but if you do not give online, there will be a plate at the exit door of each church for people to leave their offering.

If you have specific questions then please contact Rev. Louise Carr.

Our General Mission...

Our MISSION is ...

To live by FAITH, be known by LOVE, and be a voice of HOPE ... With JESUS at the centre of our lives!

This statement is deliberately not a neatly tied up description of what we do as followers of Jesus.

It is our definition of what it means to be a disciple and as none of us are the same, we are unique according to how God made us and we encounter and experience his Holy Spirit differently, so too we work out our discipleship in distinctive ways.

When we commit to this we mean ...

† LIVING BY FAITH
(The spiritual nature of being a Christian)

  • Declaring belief in Jesus Christ
  • Living by that belief

† BEING KNOWN BY LOVE
(What I do, and how I do it)

  • Being welcoming and inclusive
  • By engaging with our community

† BEING A VOICE OF HOPE
(Our role in the world - our area, nationally & globally)

  • By playing our part in transforming the world
  • Knowing that God can do all things in his time.
